Partial Hospitalization Program in Utah
PHP for addiction in Utah provides individuals with an intensive yet flexible option for tackling substance abuse. This program combines daily therapeutic sessions, including individual counseling, group therapy, and holistic treatments, to address the multifaceted nature of addiction.
Clients benefit from a structured daytime schedule that fosters progress and healing while allowing them to return to their supportive home environments in the evenings. Our dedicated team creates personalized treatment plans to meet each client’s unique needs, ensuring they receive the comprehensive care and tools necessary for a lasting recovery journey.
Choosing the right addiction treatment program is crucial for your recovery journey. At our Utah facility, we offer effective therapy in a setting that aligns with your unique needs and goals. When beginning rehab, it’s important to recognize that everyone’s treatment requirements are different. Some individuals may benefit from an intensive, highly structured program, while others may thrive in a more flexible environment.
As you explore rehab options, you’ll encounter various types of programs, each with different structures and levels of intensity. Common examples include residential or inpatient programs, outpatient programs, intensive outpatient programs (IOPs), and partial hospitalization programs (PHPs or day programs).
For some, residential or inpatient care provides the best support for their needs. However, the high intensity of inpatient programs may not be necessary for everyone and can sometimes conflict with personal obligations like work or school. In such cases, a day treatment program like our PHP in Utah offers comprehensive addiction and mental health treatment without the need for an overnight stay, allowing individuals to maintain their daily responsibilities while receiving the care they need.
Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for addiction in Utah offer intensive, structured treatment for individuals struggling with substance use or co-occurring mental health disorders who do not require 24-hour care. Clients spend at least eight hours a day at our facility, engaging in a comprehensive treatment regimen that includes both therapeutic and educational components. The program’s hours may be flexible, depending on individual needs and the center’s schedule.
PHP is often more cost-effective than inpatient treatment, making it an attractive option for many. It is especially beneficial for those with chronic disorders, severe addiction, or a history of relapse. Particularly, if they have already completed 30 days or more of inpatient treatment. PHP facilitates a smoother transition from residential care back to everyday life, providing robust support without the need for medical detox.
A stable and safe home environment is crucial for success in PHP. This program offers many of the same essential services as inpatient care but at a lower cost and with the flexibility of returning home each night.
Additionally, our daytime addiction treatment in Utah may be fully or partially covered by insurance, so it’s important to check your policy.
Our PHP in Utah typically requires thirty (30) hours or more per week of commitment. Days of the week and program times are generally flexible and are arranged to best meet individual needs.
Spirit Mountain's behavioral health professional staff includes a medical doctor, psychiatrist, and psychologist. We are also able to coordinate with an individual’s own medical doctor to assure that all necessary medical needs are met during treatment.
Based on assessments, we develop an individualized treatment plan (ITP) that forms the basis for treatment. This ITP can be adjusted at any time based on the progress that an individual makes in their treatment. The key is customizing treatment to the specific needs of the individual.
Treatment methods that comprise a day treatment plan typically include evidence-based therapies. These are integrated with spiritually-based disciplines and other holistic approaches for comprehensive treatment. Therapies include individual, group, psychoeducational, equine-assisted, life skills, and other types of addiction treatment.
At Spirit Mountain Recovery in Utah, our day treatment program provides a comprehensive range of evidence-based treatment options, similar to those in our residential rehab programs. We incorporate proven therapy models like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), alongside various alternative treatments, to create a well-rounded and effective program. Our goal is to support your physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.
Assessing the Underlying Causes of Addiction
The first step in our day treatment program is an assessment, much like choosing an inpatient care program. You will collaborate with our care team to determine the most suitable therapy models for your needs. Each therapeutic model we use is designed to help patients overcome addiction and mental health challenges. Our programs focus on uncovering the stressors and underlying issues contributing to these problems.
Understanding the root causes of painful mental health symptoms or ongoing substance abuse struggles enables the development of healthier, safer ways to manage triggers, without resorting to self-medication with drugs or alcohol.

Ready to take the leap? Let’s get started today.
If you are considering a PHP in Utah for yourself or a loved one, we will develop a personalized plan tailored to your specific needs. The duration of the program will depend on various factors, including the severity of the addiction, the substances involved, and the length of time in addiction. It is crucial to be completely honest with our admissions team about your situation. For severe addictions, such as to heroin or alcohol, a medical detox may be required before starting the day treatment program.
Partial Hospitalization Programs are less intensive than residential programs. Yet, more so than an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Many people question the differences between a PHP and an IOP. Both intensive outpatient treatment and partial hospitalization programs allow you to get the help you need without leaving home or sacrificing vital day-to-day obligations. Also, both PHP and IOPs provide access to intensive therapy.
The primary difference between the two programs is the intensity of treatment. A PHP is generally more intensive than an IOP.
When you choose a PHP, you can expect to engage in therapy more often than you would at a lower level of care. Most PHPs require more counseling sessions and more time in treatment each week. Also, PHPs schedule therapy at a similar frequency to that found in a residential program. Typically, they require an average of five sessions each week, with each session ranging from 4 to 8 hours depending on the design of your treatment plan.
It is important to note that PHPs, or day treatment programs, may not be the best option for every person. While they are an excellent option for someone who has recently completed an inpatient treatment program or someone with mild to moderate treatment needs, a day treatment program may not be best for those with severe addictions or significant withdrawal symptoms.
When you choose our day treatment program for drug and alcohol addiction treatment in Utah, you will work with a member of our treatment team to determine the best course of treatment for you. For some, the first step in treatment is detox. Fully recovering from addiction requires allowing your body the time it needs to rid itself of the effects and dependency on toxic substances before starting therapy. If you still struggle with cravings, it will be difficult to fully immerse yourself in a therapy program. Detox ensures a greater opportunity for positive outcomes from therapy.
At a PHP, patients generally attend a combination of therapy sessions, including individual, group, and family therapy up to 40 hours per week. In addition to therapy sessions involving evidence-based treatments, our PHP provides peer support sessions (such as 12-step programs) and several alternative therapies. Our goal is to ensure our day treatment program offers a broad range of therapeutic options designed to help you leave treatment with the tools and relapse prevention skills you need.
At Spirit Mountain Recovery, our Partial Hospitalization Program in Utah is dedicated to helping you reclaim your life and achieve lasting recovery. With a compassionate team of experts and a comprehensive, personalized approach, we provide the support and tools you need to overcome addiction. The journey to overcoming addiction begins with a single, crucial step. Begin your healing journey with us today and take the first step toward a healthier, brighter future.

The brotherhood of good men that have come together through addiction and recovery has created a unique approach toward spiritual wellness and care. Sumner Adams2025-03-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Spirit Mountain Recovery has brought joy and gratitude back into my life. I had been to seven treatment centers over the last twelve years prior to coming to SMR. It was explained to me before arriving that their style of programming is a little different than my experience in the past. It is not just a traditional 12-step program. They put in emphasis on experiential therapy that allows clients to get out in the beautiful Utah wilderness every week instead of sitting at the house day in and day out. This aspect of the program has allowed me to rediscover my passion for the outdoors and reignite the fire I had lost for hobbies such as hiking, snowboarding, pickle ball, going to the gym etc. They also give us the opportunity to meet and develop relationships with the local recovery community through going to meetings throughout the week. The staff made the experience for me during my four months I was there. Each staff member from the lowest level position all the up to the owner made themselves available at anytime when needed. It was clear that they all truly cared about each client and came always from a place of compassion and love. The staff to client relationships was unlike anything I’ve experience before in past treatment centers. Most of the staff are in recovery and majority of them are alumni of SMR, so being able to relate to them on a personal level came very easy. Honest recovery work requires a lot of vulnerability and the staff provides a very safe place for this to happen. They have been in the exact spot the clients are in during their recovery journeys so they fully understand the pain and sadness we feel in early sobriety. Lastly, SMR is not done with you when you leave the center. Between the monthly alumni meetings and calls from the staff to check-in, they really want to remain involved within our recovery journeys which allows those important relationships that were built to continue on. This is just another part of the program that separates them from others. There will always be a special place in my heart for Spirit Mountain. I am forever grateful to this program and the people I met as a result. If you or a loved one is struggling with substance abuse, I highly recommend Spirit Mountain. You will be shown love, acceptance and compassion and will have the opportunity to build a foundation of recovery that can bring a life of peace and serenity that we loose when we are stuck in the pit of substance abuse. I wish I had found Spirit Mountain back in 2013 but am so glad I found it when I did. It changed my life and continues to better my life each and everyday. D J2024-09-20Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It would be dramatic to say that Spirit Mountain Recovery saved my life, BUT they did provide the compass and leadership that lead me along the path to self discovery and healing I so desperately needed to actually begin living life. The staff are almost entirely in recovery themselves or have worked in that field for many years, and most of those in recovery (all but one FT staff member) went through Spirit Mountain. As such, they were not only qualified to light the way but have also lived the journey firsthand and so were able to easily see the pitfalls and challenges that inevitably present themselves and demonstrated daily how to navigate them effectively. All of the activities were ultimately based on learning to live a satisfying life of recovery--living with purpose and joy through connection, willing honesty, and discomfort (where growth happens) without the need for substances to alter what I am truly feeling and thinking in the moment. Being active is an important aspect of the experience at Spirit Mountain, and for me that was hugely beneficial because my additions sucked all of the pleasures of life from me, I no longer desired to do anything but feed the beast. I highly recommend considering Spirit Mountain Recovery if you desire to find out once again, or possibly for the first time, what life can and should be lived like. Shawn Toney2024-09-16Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I don’t normally write reviews but on this occasion it was necessary. I want to say thank you to all the staff at S.M.R. For helping me with a life long struggle of addiction. I honestly thought I was a lost cause and that my life was set in stone with addiction. I was wrong in that thinking and with the help and guidance of the staff I can now say that my whole outlook on life has changed. They opened up my eyes into seeing what life is really about and how to deal with tough life decision in a healthy way instead of self sabotage. It doesn’t just stop after you leave the house either they remain in contact with me and are always willing to talk and help out with whatever you have going on in life. I consider some of them my closest friends to this day and will never forget what they have given me and my family. Jobey Shaver2024-05-09Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It is really hard to put into words what Spirit Mountain Recovery has done for me, and my family. I went to SMR a very broken and hopeless individual with no chance of happiness. It didn't take long to realize that the staff actually cared about me, which was hard to comprehend since I didn't care about myself. Although I had no understanding of the process and treatment they were providing I buckled down, did what was asked and embraced the uncomfortable. The results are amazing. I am the happiest I have ever been and my family is too! Thank you SMR for showing me how to get out of my own way. I am now the husband and father I always wanted to be. Nate Harper2024-04-29Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot share enough good words about SMR. At the darkest time of my life, I desperately seeked for a family that would help me in my healing journey. SMR embodies love, compassion, and a deep understanding of human life and suffering. The staff at SMR are beyond amazing, and the program is designed with the client in mind. If you’re not sober and want to be, SMR will help take you there, without a doubt Jaiden Snyder2024-04-27Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
