What is Neurofeedback?
When more traditional modes of therapy (talk therapy) don’t seem to be working as well as you would like them to, consider trying neurofeedback.
It is a scientifically proven way to improve the way you feel and function in the world by improving how your brain operates. In a UCLA study, 77% of the experimental subjects were abstinent at 12 months as compared to 44% for the controls. At Spirit Mountain Recovery we have over 80% of clients achieve long-term sobriety!
Neurofeedback is a noninvasive, organic process that does not change who you are. It’s still you. It is you just in a better mood or with an increase in confidence, focus, and performance. Neurofeedback is an alternative to medication for most issues that stem from the brain. It is a journey into the possible.
Rather than engaging the conscious mind in thoughts, feelings, or plans, neurofeedback works directly with the unconscious mind and functions like a mirror for the brain. When you catch a reflection of yourself in a mirror and you notice something is out of place- you almost unconsciously make adjustments to get things back in order. Neurofeedback provides a sort of a mirror for the brain to see what is going on and to make needed adjustments without all of the defenses and discomfort of traditional talk therapy.
At Spirit Mountain Recovery, we have been using neurofeedback to assist our clients in big breakthroughs on issues related to trauma, addiction, and difficult relationships, and consider neurofeedback an important tool in the healing process.
Neurofeedback can be effective for issues like:
- Addictive or compulsive behavior
- Depression or anxiety symptoms
- Behavioral problems (in adults and children)
- Trauma and PTSD flashbacks
- Anger issues
- Physical pain
- Sleep problems
